So where do interiors go from here?
During the centuries, architectural styles have come and gone. Many changes are in direct response to the style of the day, where life has deviated from the accepted norm.
Take a look at the beautiful Red House by William Morris (above). This was the beginning of the Art and Crafts movement.
It began in the late 19th century as a direct form of action against mass production brought about by the Industrial Revolution, and the fussy Victorian era.
Roots of the movement were philosophical rather than driven by architects. It was a yearning for simpler forms. Inspired by nature and natural materials, quality rather than quantity was appreciated, with items created one at a time.
Interior trends are heading back in this direction.
We're seeing more natural components and shapes. Beautiful organic, sensuous curves to furniture and a celebration of soft textures like velvet.
More saturated and bold colours partner beautifully for 2021. And when sitting with Pantone colour of 2020, Classic Blue they become an interior life force.
We're loving it!
